A for Austria
Wheew can you imagine if you’ll be given a chance of a lifetime dream vacation for free???‼! I bet it will be one heck of fun!
Well if I’m going for a vacation spree I would love to be in Austria. My attraction in this country started when I became a fan of the “Vampire Diaries”.
Vampire Diaries is a TV suspense-thriller series in the US. Luckily there’s a channel here in the Philippines called ETC and it airs the freshest US TV shows. The blood-sucking actors were not from Austria, but the place where they shoot is.
I fell in love with the stillness of the place. It’s like a small community with people supporting for each other. A community of people living with vampires (originals and turned), warewolves, witches and hybrids (a warewolf and a vampire) almost peacefully.
Austria or officially the Republic of Austria is a federal republic and a landlocked country of roughly 8.47 million people in Central Europe. It is bordered by the Czech Republic and Germany to the north, Hungary and Slovakia to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. The territory of Austria covers 83,855 square kilometers (32,377 sq mi) and has a temperate and alpine climate. It belongs to the biome know as tundra where it terribly snows because of its location in the globe. The capital of Austria is Vienna. Its current president is Heinz Fischer.
There are famous people from Austria.. lots of them! From actors to scientists to leaders of the world. Let’s start with the actor turned politician and back to the hollywood fame is Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was born in Austria but became a US Citizen.
Then we have the composer and world renowned Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a famous genius is music.
And who will forget one of the strangest
folks ever lived in the world? He was also
suspected to be the brother of Jose Rizal or
somewhat related to Rizal actually..
Sigmund Freud who is one of the pillars of psychology and the founder of psychoanalysis was once a child roaming on the streets of Austria. Maybe Hans Asperger a pediatrician named after the Asperger syndrome was playmate long time ago. Asperger is like autism but it is more into the impaired social interaction of the person.
In the field of Science, Erwin Schrödinger is maybe on the top of the list. He derived the Schrodinger equation that describes the wave of elementary particles and why it is fundamental to the description of the properties of all matter.
Now let’s talk about the food or Austrian cuisine… it is mainly vegetables with variations of meat and pork and they are also slaves of good wine!
Like in other countries, Austria has its whimsical and magical tourist attractions too! One of which is the Swarovski Fountain. Oh did I forget to mention that they have one of the largest production of Swarovski crystals in the world? yup you heard me right! This fountain is a gentle green giant with crystals for eyes and fountain for a mouth. This was installed in 1995 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Swarovski crystal.
Another spot that can make you look twice or even thrice is the Vienna State Opera where it offers classical and modern versions of history’s most famous ballets or operas for viewers to choose from.
This luxurious and grand trip would not be complete without some people whom I love to be with all the time mama, tita Remy and Joseph J Damon or Stefan and Elena (from the vampire diaries) as tour guides B)
But as reality knocks in my head… and as much as I want to be in Austria, I think I should further travel around the Philippines. Explore the historical and colorful cultures of our country and appreciate grandeur sceneries.
